The San Diego Metro Announces that Anneke Stender is a Recipient of the “Women of Influence” Award
The 2019 Women of Influence Award showcases top leaders in San Diego who bring innovation, passion and success to their field.
Anneke Stender, Executive Vice President of TAG is one of 12 selected for this award out of 45 nominees.
Anneke Stender makes a mark in the accounting and financial world for high-net-worth families, their businesses, foundations and family offices. She is a trusted resource for her clients, some of who are members of the most prominent family offices and the wealthiest in the country. She understands their unique needs and created back-office accounting and bill pay services to help them stay organized and gain financial peace of mind.
Originally from Germany, Stender moved to San Diego by herself after high school for a year of English language studies. Within the first six months she fell in love with San Diego and the Southern California lifestyle and stayed for college. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from San Diego State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Finance.
Stender has served on the Scripps Health Gift Planning Advisory Board for the last four years.
She actively participates in professional associations such as the Estate Planning Council of San Diego, STEP (Society of Trust Estate Professionals), SDSU Business Alumni Association, La Jolla Probate, the Nonprofit Leadership Forum and ProVisors.
Business awards that she has won include: Women of Influence, “Game Changer” award, “Top 20 Women Who Impact San Diego” and has been a Finalist in San Diego Business Journal’s and Orange County Business Journal’s “Women Who Mean Business” for numerous years.
The evolution of TAG (The Accounting Group) dates back over two decades ago. In 1996, Robert Scherer founded TAG with a primary focus on providing fractional Controller-level accounting services to small and medium-sized businesses in San Diego.
In 2003, Scherer hired Anneke Stender as the firm’s Corporate Controller. She began working with business owners who were selling their business or retiring and discovered they no longer had their corporate accountant to help with day-to-day financial tasks. This sparked the revelation to form TAG Family CFO, a back-office personal accounting service for families and individuals with a complex financial life.
The bill pay services offered by TAG Family CFO caught the attention of one of the Nation’s largest family offices and was developed as a new division.
